Re: Around the World Flight
Not for SAX credit, of course, but I went around the world again last month to learn the intricacies of the FBW A32NX in MSFS. I tried to limit myself to only the highly detailed (so-called bespoke) airports. Here's my routing. KLAX (Los Angeles, CA) origin PHKO (Kona, Hawaii) block time 6:10, 2284n...

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator
Nice! Does the wing flex in turbulence or upon touchdown? Were you able to log the flight with any sort of ACARS? I haven't seen any announcements from SAX about adopting one that has been found to be compatible with MSFS. Wish I could get flying again. COVID has temporarily forced turning my gaming...

Re: Best Computers For Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
Yeah, decent article. Definitely time for me to build a new one to last for the long run. Current one has been in service nearly 11 years now. Still I'll wait 'til the real world experiences of users with various hardware is made public (after the sim is released) to assess just how high-end I need ...

UAT978 feed - http://172.112.231.64:8978/ There are only a few planes flying around during the day (blue entries), none at night, and a ton of TIS-B data (yellow entries). Both feeds are going into a single Raspberry Pi. Instructions on the Flightaware site for how to assign an address to each dongl...

Thought I'd update the link to my site - is now http://172.112.231.64:8088/ And my statistics - http://flightaware.com/adsb/stats/user/oracfa I see our "Team" is ranked #53 on the FlightAware list. :) Looking at Marty's ADS-B site, it looks like the "heat map" function has been r...

According to Wikipedia, Flight Sim World sales lasted only a year. Their website looks to be dead. Me? I'm excited to get back into simming when Microsoft's newest sim (untitled as of yet) is released. https://www.flightsimulator.com/ Recent trailer here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCBgO6St9ug...

Re: Build an ADS-B Receiver - PiAware
Spent a few days last week saving polar plots of the traffic at my location using the stock antenna. Two nights ago I made a coaxial colinear antenna as discussed in a lot of places on the internet. Was kind of a pain to get just right, particularly making sure the two elements weren't shorted to ea...

Re: Build an ADS-B Receiver - PiAware
Interesting. Was planning a home-built collinear, but now may consider a cantenna. The long USB extension cable doesn't suffer any losses I guess, unlike the obvious losses one would get with a long run of RG-6? Are you running a powered preamp with it? Re: Build an ADS-B Receiver - PiAware
Although not flying these days, I still check into the forum from time to time and found this thread of interest. So I ordered all the parts the week before Christmas and got it running today. That Raspberry pi is slick. Joined your Flight Aware team. Using the antenna included with the dongle in my...

Re: Poll: POC Aircraft Position Maps
I vote yes to keep them. But save scalable images (.tif or .pdf?) of them rather than keeping all the raw data in the database. When I plan a flight, I often look at how others did when they flew the same route, which runways they took off and landed on compared to their block time, etc. They make f...

Re: Poll: Incorrect Aircraft Types
Voted yes to delete, but have a concern that some flights may have changed equipment over the years so wouldn't want legitimate flights deleted. One of the 747 legs for the around the world routing comes to mind as one that changed to 777, although now I can't find it. Maybe it was WSSS-YSSY that no...

737-800 virtual cockpit
Anyone get their -800 to work with the default FS9 virtual cockpit? I've installed the -800 in the file library (http://www.sunairexpress.com/files/SAX_ ... or_FS9.zip) and have no VC. Can't find anything online that tells me how to get it working. Help, please.

Sunday group flights are usually best for me, but I rarely participate anyway. Just for special events mainly, and as you know I don't do the VATSIM or squawkbox thing. I just fly and if someone else notices all the better.

Re: Poll: What Is Your Primary Flight Sim for SAX Flights?
Still chugging along with FS9. Generally, over the years, I've skipped every other version. FSX doesn't seem to offer anything really new over FS9 for what I use it for. Only add-on I have is USA Roads. Running an i5-750 @ 2.66 GHz, Radeon 5770, 8GB RAM, Win7 Pro 64-bit, and a 21.3 inch 4:3 monitor ...

May be airline specific, but I can confirm that is the case with American.I understand that pilots who fly one are rated to fly the other. Can anyone who knows comment?

Re: Poll: Accelerated Time Mode Usage
Last year I changed from flying the 747, where I was lucky to find time for one flight a month, back to flying the 737 (SFO hub), where I can much more easily fly 4 or even 6 flights a month. I wish I had the time to keep flying the 747, but I don't. So, while I don't personally use acceleration, I ...
