Re: 20 Year Anniversary Fly-in / 20May2012 / 3:00PM EDT

Yes! Cheated death again :D Awsesome weather, great flight. I didn't do a fly-by so I just extended my downwind a little more than usual which worked out really good for me. Plus I slowed her down WAY OUT before even getting to the pattern. Thanks everyone! SAX272 arrives KTPA.jpg SAX702 arrives KTP...

Re: 20 Year Anniversary Fly-in / 20May2012 / 3:00PM EDT

I know, no texting while flying, but since this a once in a lifetime event I couldn't help it. Captains perogative  Anyway, I see that three of us are at least airborne and heading to KTPA. Heck of a tailwind may cause me to be about 20 minutes early. Might have to do a flyby before landing 8)...

Re: Poll: What Is Your Primary Flight Sim for SAX Flights?

I've stayed with FS-9 and just about every add-on scenery I could get my hands on. All of my PCs are 8 years old or older. I won't bore you with their ancient technology. I use Project Magenta software to run my cockpit and FS-9 for the scenery. All six PC's are networked together and online ...

Re: POLL: Max Touchdown Rate Allowed

I completely aggree with everything that Marty said, only addition I do is that after smoothly pulling power to idle I slowly pull the nose up until I get my "Sight Picture" which is having the end of the runway approximately 2 inches above the instrument panel. Once I have that picture I ...

Re: Time to Talk Acceleration?

Maybe we should come up with a "Pilot Proficiency" rating. I know we all get ranking based on hours but that can be falsely gained by the acceleration modes. I'm thinking it would be nice to have a Pilot Proficiency rating based on the following factors: Use of Real Time Landing fpm rate O...

Re: Preflight Time Poll

I do pretty much the same as everyone else with the added time of bringing 5 PC's online and making sure they are all talking and doing the jobs I set them up to do. I also have the video system to bring online as well. Takes about an extra 15 minutes to bring the cockpit to life.

MegaCity USA 2005 - Atlanta

I bought a couple of add-on sceneries this past couple of months from PCAviator and for some reason they sent me an extra copy of MegaCity USA 2005 - Atlanta, http://www.megascenery.com/megacityatlanta.htm , so if anyone wants this FREE copy let me know. It is only for FS2004. First come first served.

I don't care either mostly because I have built a B737 home cockpit that doesn't look or fly much like a MD83. I have flown it in the past and really enjoyed it. I heard that Alaska Airlines is getting rid of theirs to keep pilots more current in one platform rather than multiple ones.

Thanks for all the info Dave. As you know I'm putting together a home cockpit which uses a multitude of software and 5 PC's which is working great at this time. After reading what you have been going through I can only imagine what it would take to convert my pit over to FSX. I think for the moment ...
