I'd say you answered your first question just fine. I look at the direction of flight, runway being used and enroute waypoints then pick the best one that will give me the smoothest transition to the enroute segment. Sometimes you may have to live with something that isn't as smooth as you would lik...

Thanks. You can either manually input a complete route or upload a company route such as "KATLKSTL". Which would be a file located in the PMDG flight plans folder called KATLKSTL.rte. These files are easily made and imported into the PMDG flightplan folder using FSBuild2. You can also buil...

PMDG B737NG Programming

Hi all, I made a short video showing how to setup the PMDG B737NG FMC for a flight from KATL to KSTL. This is my first time doing something like this so please excuse my nervousness. There are many more things that can be done as for as programming for better flight management but this will atleast ...

Excellent tutorial Dave! One thing I do is have the spoilers armed on approach as well as the autobrakes. Then on touchdown I bring on the reverse thrust till 80 knots as you stated and I let the auto brakes keep doing their job till 60 knots at which time I start manual braking. This will help keep...

I did it! 8) I had a couple of days off this week so I was able to complete the 5 legs in about 4 days. I encountered lots of weather systems and different flight procedures and it was neat being south of the equator for the first time. Today is my birthday so what a nice present to myself to comple...

Does it have to be completed in eighty days or less? Sounds like fun. Think I'll try it from Katl. From To Distance ============= KATL (33°38'26"N 84°25'37"W) EBBR (50°54'05"N 04°29'04"E) 3,846 nm EBBR (50°54'05"N 04°29'04"E) WSSS (01°21'01"N 103°59'40"E) 5,70...

Active Sky 6 and FSBuild2

For those pilots that had purchased ASV5 there is a free upgrade to version 6. I did the upgrade and forgot to do a step in another excellent program called FSBuild. Since ASV6 puts a new folder in your FS9/modules folder, FSBuild doesn't know about it, therefore when you do flight planning your win...

Thanks for the information Chris. I just did my first flight into Moscow and it was awesome. I was using RadarContact4 for my ATC which gave me the altimeter settting in QNH but altitude was given in Flight Levels, not meters :( , down to 6,000 which was cool. Even without the VATSIM ATC it is a lit...

I personally like the Jepp routes, for some reason they just make more sense to me and easier to read. I wouldn't trust those "FAA" guys 8) .

Today is a day of thanks giving and what better way for SunAir eXpress to do it than to give thanks to one of it's own for surpassing the 1,000th flight hour mark. Excellent job well done and a new grade well deserved, Command Captain Dave Blake, kind of has a ring to it 8)

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is exactly how I do it also. And if you are flying a jet equipped with an FMC/CDU, it'll give you your landing time usually on the progress page and you can adjust your cruise speed to keep those numbers within that allotted block of time for an on-time gate arrival. One thing to watch for is t...

This is some very important information. There have been many instances where major airlines have run out of fuel in flight. In fact there was a movie done about one where the ground crew got confused on the conversion of lbs to kgs and ended shorting an aircraft on its fuel needed. It ended up flam...
