Now Flying to Johannesburg, South Africa

Post by David Vega »

Fellow Pilots,

We are now offering B777 service from Atlanta to Johannesburg. This replaces previous B747 service from Atlanta to Cape Town.

So what does this mean for our long hauler pilots? Longer flights. :o

The flights retain the previous flight numbers but now use a B777 (the B747 doesn't have the range). In both FSX and FS9, the Johannesburg airport uses the old ICAO code FAJS. Why the change? Johannesburg is the number one airport in South Africa. Since SunAir Europa flies to Johannesburg from Zurich, B777 rated pilots could easily fly KATL-FAOR-LSZH-KATL for a lot of miles. Enjoy.

Dave,

The 747-400 does have the capability, even more the 747-8 will..

It wont be at full ZFW, but she can take full PAX there from Atlanta.

The route to FAOR is about 260nm more than the route to FACT from KATL.

Of course the head wind return wont be as easy lol :D
