Poll: Preferred Flight Sim for Your SAX Flights
What are you use now as your primary flight sim for your SAX flights?
This poll will run until February 15, 2022 and you may change your vote if needed. You must login to vote.
It's been a few years since I last ran this poll. The last poll ended February 15, 2019. FSX had 4 votes, and P3Dv4 Pro had 3 votes and P3Dv4 Academic had 1 vote.
Although not officially supported yet, some SAX pilots may have been able to use Microsoft Fight Sim 2020 (FS2020) for testing now.
Do you use any major add-ons like for weather, ATC or flight planning? If so, which ones?
Your comments are welcomed.

Re: Poll: Preferred Flight Sim for Your SAX Flights
Hi Dave,
Lots of airport purchases from FlyTampa, FSDreamteam, Flightbeam TropicalSim, Taxi2Gate, AeroSoft and more. Exclusively use PMDG aircraft B738 and B777 with ActiveSky 2016 and RZCA V2. Until we get something like FSFK for MSFS2020, I'll be happy to stick with FSX. On the other hand, when that does come to fruition, I'll be happy to ge rid of the memory limitations of FSX when that damn bell starts ringing.

Happy New Year Dave,
I'm still very happy with FSX. I use Flight Sim Commander, Navigraph's FMS Data manager and SimBrief for flight plans and FSRealweather 3.0. Still using Radar Contact for ATC.

I'm still happy using FSX and my current system probably won't run FS2020 anyway.
Here's my other "add-ons" that I use:
SimBreif - for flight planning and to make the flight plan file for FSX.
Active Sky Next for FSX - for weather.
Radar Contact 4 - for ATC. Not the best but it is better then the FSX ATC.
SkyVector - for most charts.
pmSound by Project Magenta - an old addon that I use just for altitude call-outs during landing.

Re: Poll: Preferred Flight Sim for Your SAX Flights
While I'm still with P3Dv5, I went ahead and bought MSFS and while my PC isn't top of the line, I can run it with satisfactory performance. In my opinion, the problem with MSFS is that there are few to no jets types that are in the SAX fleet. There's the B747 and an A320. One can buy a CRJ7 but there's no B737, B767, B777, etc. MSFS also doesn't have a couple of essential features I need for long flights: a true pause and the ability to automatically pause at or before the top of descent. There are two kinds of pauses, but they don't pause time, just the airplane.
I'm also keeping an eye on the upcoming X-Plane 12. It seems to be robust and it will have all our jets, either free or payware. Meanwhile, we'll continue with what has given us countless hours of enjoyment.

Flying Microsoft Flight Simulator since about launch, year and few months now..
Press ESC and the sim is paused, then click RESUME and the sim is unpausedDavid Vega wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 3:07 pm ...but they don't pause time, just the airplane.

No sim can compete with MSFS, Xplane 12 included.David Vega wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 3:07 pm

Re: Poll: Preferred Flight Sim for Your SAX Flights
I have been flying MSFS 2020 exclusively for over a year now. I'm only using the FlyByWire A320 and Aerosoft CRJ for my SAX flights. I also spend some time in the WT CRJ4 and modded DA62.
Looking forward to PMDG's 737 so I can get back into Boeings

Re: Poll: Preferred Flight Sim for Your SAX Flights
Hi,
I know this poll is dated, but here's my information...
FSX - FSFK, FSC 10, FSGRW, FS DIscover!, FSTramp, FSX PAX
FS2004 - FSFK, FSC 10, FSGRW, FS Discover! (or EZ VFR, EZ Landmark), FSNavigator, FS Flight Environment, FS Ground Environment, FS PAX
FS2002 - FSFK, SFP, ActiveSky wxRE, EZ VFR, EZ Landmark, FSNavigator
I create FSC 10 Flight Plans (it has SID/STAR/TRANSITIONS) from the Dispatches, converting them with Super Flight Planner to import into FSNavigator. It's cumbersome process, but works.
P3D, MSFS 2020, and XPLANE are not viable options for me. FSX is marginal.
Typically use FS2004, offers great performance and flight realism for my system. I have the SunAir Express Fleet (with SAX liveries) loaded in FSX, FS9, and FS8 (less BBJ for now).
