Do Not Install Windows XP SP3

Do not install Windows XP Service Pack 3 without first reading these two posts, especially the second post!

I installed Windows XP Home SP3 today on one of my computers and got the Blue Screen of Death after the install. I could not boot up at all, not even in Safe Mode. I used the information found in the 2nd post above and after about 2 hours of work I managed to recover my computer without having to do a total restore. I was very lucky!
My advice is to NOT install Windows XP SP3 yet. Wait until Microsoft has fixed this setup and install. If you do decide to install the service pack BACK UP YOUR COMPUTER FIRST and be prepared to reinstall windows.
