I downloaded it last night and plan to do a couple training flight before doing a revenue flight this weekend.
It only has popups for 2D so it is flown mostly with the 3D panel. I don't really like that but its the way everyone is going now, Aerosoft's A320 and Majestic's Q400 are also 3d panels.

Re: PMDG B777-200 Released for FSX
It has the customizations within the CDU like the 737-800NGX (not through Add-ons) Im sure you've looked at it already, maybe there is an option to enable full 2D panel in it?RichW wrote: It only has popups for 2D so it is flown mostly with the 3D panel. I don't really like that ...Rich
And apparently for what I've seen on the website, it is optimized for 16:10 (or 16:9), so maybe to allow us to see more VC cokpit on default zoom 1, that would be good for me because I have a small widescreen 15".
Could you confirm if 2D panel option? I am waiting on the 747v2 and I guess if this one doesnt have full 2D the 747v2 wont either .
But if everything (instruments, digits etc) is viewable reasonably like the 2D panel view without having to zoom in to be able to view comfortably the read outs (meaning still being able to view outside on zoom 1 like same ratio of 2D panel but in VC cockpit, I like to keep outside view to zoom 1) then I guess I could use VC.
Cool video Dave, thx.

There is no 2D panel but there are popups for the MCP and CDU. There is no popup for the overhead panel so it is hard to see some of the buttons and switches from the left seat so you have to zoom in.747l9v wrote:Could you confirm if 2D panel option? Still it is a great flying bird and I'm looking forward to putting some hours on her.

Richard,
On the issue with the overhead, can you press "A" and see a direct view of the overhead?

Pressing A will get you to the overhead panel, but it cycles you through a few screens before you get there. There may be a way to map a key to get there quicker.
I'm going to have to spend a little more time in the manual .

Have you tried Ezdok? http://www.ezdok-software.com/ It allows keyboard presets and naturally pans the VC to the preset view.

Re: PMDG B777-200 Released for FSX
I'm getting used to the virtual cockpit, hated them, but it is growing on me with the A320 and the 772- i'm now using the virtual in the 737
One quick way to get to the overhead is right click in the windshield, it opens a view menu. same thing coming out of overhead or pedestal view, right click somewhere on the panel where there are no buttons
Also, if you didn't see it, PMDG recommends to NOT use the S key to change views in the 772. They say to use the menu. Then menu also has external and aircraft views (like overwing)
