FSX Unexpectly Crashes to Desktop

Do you know something about FSX, or an aircraft, panel, scenery or an add-on for it? Post information and links about them here.

FSX Unexpectly Crashes to Desktop

Post by BearWhoTalks »

I recently bought a new computer when the mother board in the old one began failing. I reinstalled FSX, FSPUIC, FS Flight Keeper, and various add on pay ware aircraft. I was lucky in that I had landed and put on the parking brake. I was using the middle mouse scroll wheel to turn switches to the off position. I also seems to happen if I click the mouse on various places too fast, at least that is how I am describing it. I read earlier about a clean boot to see if that helps. Has any one had these problems as it is really frustrating to have the FSX crash while landing.

I am running windows 7 pro, have an eight core processor, and 32 gigs of ram. I understand that the video card has 2.? onboard memory and a 2 Terabyte hard drive. Maybe this is more than FSX can handle. Any help would be appreciated.

These type of problems are so difficult to diagnose. Are you experiencing similar problems with other programs, or just in windows itself? Do you have the latest drivers for your mouse? Also check this and here to see if it helps.

I did have a problem when I installed Level D B767 in that FSX told me that it would have problems with the aircraft when on my older quad based machine there were no problems (I can't remember the exact wording of the message). I also had problems when I tried to run office 365 on my new system so I uninstalled it. I will try what you have suggested and let you know.

Thanks for your Help,

Are you using Full-screen mode or Windows mode with FSX? FSX used to CTD sometimes for me when I used Full-screen mode. I have better luck using Windows mode.

I was using windows mode. I haven't been using full screen as I can't see my taskbar to get FS Flight Keeper up and running after starting FSX. Thanks for the information.

Hi Dave,

I installed the file to the FSX folder. I am still having crashes once in a while. One happened while I was trying to set the gate at KSEA. I clicked on the tab to select the gate and things seemed to freeze. I clicked again and the flight simulator stopped and closed down with an error message. I do not remember the message. It works fine if I am careful not to click or switch views too often.

Let me know, please, what to try next.

I was landing at HJKJ and was trying to line up with the ILS. I shut off the auto pilot using keyboard letter Z. I was turning to line up properly and as I was tuning, the FSX Stopped and that was that. Today I have replaced and old keyboard and got a new mouse which came with the keyboard. My last flight was good but FS Flight Keeper crashed. This time it worked fine. I ran both FSX and Flight Keeper in Admin Mode. I have made some flights using the Cessna 185 and 207 and have so far had no crashes but not using Flight Keeper. I did use Active Sky for both.

Thanks for any further help you can give me.

If you are having issues with FSFK you start it in DEBUG mode so if FSFK crashes again you will have an error log your can send to Thomas Molitor at FSFK Support.

If you are having issues with FSX crashing that can be hard to trouble shoot. Does it happen when flying one particular aircraft? If you use addons you can try not using them one at a time to see if any of them are causing the issue.

That's about all I can think of.

I have been flying the Embraer 195 the last few times. I just finished flying the Cessna 207 (an add on I purchased) and flew for two hours using the Ultimate Alaska X scenery add on and had no problems. I wonder if the Embraer 195 is giving me problems. I will try another flight with a different aircraft an see how the next few flights go. I am going to do a search on line and see if there are reported problems with the E195. It will be too bad as I really like flying it.

It seems to have been the Embraer 195. I uninstalled it and re-installed it and made a flight. No problems. I had replaced the mouse earlier and it seemed to be acting up so I replaced it with a different one just to be sure. I made sure I ran everything in admin mode. Thanks for taking the time to give me things to work on to solve it.

Things have been working fine for awhile. Now I have a new problem. When I am turning on final, the simulator suddenly freezes then a message states that there is a fatal error and then it restarts the simulator. The only changes I have made was to install a Super Constellation just to play around with it. When I started getting this error I uninstalled it. I have been suing unlimited frame rates. Could this be a problem. I read that it could with the Majestic Dash 8 Q400. I am wondering if I will have to uninstall everything and make a fresh start. I am hope to avoid that.

Is the freezing happening when turning on final at more than one airport?

Though we shouldn't rule out anything, it's unlikely the frame rate would be the cause. This only because I haven't heard of anybody complain about freezing problems caused by either unlimited or limited frame rates.

Does the problem occur only when flying the Dash 8?

I also tried flying a DH2 Beaver float plane. I will try some others and see what happens. Thanks you for your comment.

PS

I will try some other airports and let you know.

I have not got back to the Dash 8, I did fly different planes to various airports and have had no problems. I will have to do some more on another day. So far so good.

Would it affect the flight if I have Internet explorer running at same time. I sometimes look at Sky Vector and look at their map while flying to see if anything interesting is noted. I have only begun doing this recently. Maybe is has to with clicking on the IE icon to see the map and then on the FSX Icon to see what is going on and then back again after a little while

Additional information. I can't duplicate the problem re-flying with the Majestic Dash 8 Q400. I found out that my FSUIPC might have been corrupted so I ran the setup program and the error was fixed. Maybe there is some random problem. Any way, I seem to be doing better now so thanks for the troubleshooting ideas.

It shouldn't be activating IE, or running any other problem, unless you have too many programs running simultaneously and the computer just runs out of available memory. Perhaps reinstalling FSUIPC was it. Glad it's working.

I am still having crashes to desktop while flying the Majestic from KSEA to KGPI. FSX just stops and then it gets restarted.
I installed FSX and then Acceleration. Any suggestions.

Also does it make any difference in what order the aircraft are installed. I installed some GA aircraft, the Majestic Dash 8, the PMDG 737Ng, the PMDG 777 and then the PMDG 747.
I tried searching for xuipc.dll error but I am sure. One place said "

Posted 26 April 2007 - 01:16 PM

It took me a while + a reinstall of FSX to figure out that FSUIPC was crashing FSX. Anyone seen this before? I guess I can't run anything that uses FSUIPC. Since I reinstalled FSX, FSUIPC is still crashing it even before and after FSX re-activation. FSX runs fine if I remove FSUIPC4.dll or disable it in the dll.xml file"

I looked at the event viewer and this is what I got:

I kept surfing and read that I should try doing a repair on FSX and Acceleration. I will give it a try and then try a flight.

It did not work. I was 20 minutes from FGPI and the FSX reset.

I wonder is it is the Dash 8 Installation, or the installation of the PMDG 747-400? This all has happened since my computer repair and windows7 re-install. Maybe too many windows updates?

Now it is a different module:

Did the crash to desktop start after installing the Majestic aircraft? If so, then my guess is the problem is with the Majestic aircraft. Does the problem go away if you uninstall it?

It did not help. I even tried removing the AeroSoft Airbus and the PMDG 747. It may be that I will have to scratch everything and begin again.
