SunAir Express Retires the MD-83 “Mad Dog”

Post by Dave Blake »

Tampa, Florida – May 26, 2007 /Newswire/ --

After extensive research and with the consultation of its pilots, SunAir Express Virtual Airlines has decided to retire its fleet of McDonnell Douglas/Boeing MD-83s.

This move by the world's first virtual airline came as a result of the higher operating costs of flying the MD-83s in Europe and by reducing pilot training to one less type aircraft.

SunAir Express will continue serving its MD-83 Europe destinations with the Airbus A320 and Boeing B737. This table shows how the SunAir Express MD-83 flights in Europe were replaced.

MD83 - A320
N555SX - N517SX
N556SX - N533SX
N563SX - N539SX
N543SX - N565SX

MD83 - B737
N569SX - N554SX
N575SX - N583SX
N588SX - N590SX
